Comparison of fruiting modes of lion's mane mushroom in factory cultivation

There are five cultivation modes for factory-produced Hericium erinaceus: inverted cultivation mode, side cutting cultivation mode, basket cultivation mode, bottle cultivation mode and grid cultivation mode.
1. Inverted cultivation mode
During growth and development, the spines of Hericium erinaceus grow in the direction of gravity. Turning the bag mouth downward will make all the spines of Hericium erinaceus stand upright, making the product more beautiful and more like a "Hericium head". In actual cultivation, it was found that special high-density grids are needed to keep the bacteria bag head downward, and the condensed water generated by the humidifier easily flows onto the Hericium erinaceus fruiting bodies, causing bacterial contamination and other problems, and affecting the commercial shape of Hericium erinaceus.
2. Side cutting mode
In actual factory cultivation, it was found that the relative humidity of the bacterial bag during the cultivation process was in the range of 65% to 70%, and the bacteria at the mouth of the bag will not dry out and die due to water loss. Therefore, Hericium erinaceus fruiting bodies will continue to grow at the mouth of the bag, and the side fruiting takes up a large area and is difficult to put on the shelves and harvest. Therefore, the side cutting mode is not suitable for the factory cultivation of Hericium erinaceus.
3. Basket planting mode
Directly place the turnover basket containing the bacteria package upright on the fruiting bed frame. This method is similar to the grid cultivation model. It can be achieved by welding a bed frame specifically for placing turnover baskets, but it takes a long time to occupy the turnover baskets, which increases fixed investment.
4. Bottle mode
Using bottle mode allows a high degree of automation during the cultivation phase. However, during the fruiting stage, fruiting directly from the bottle mouth will result in too many primordia, forming a large number of small Hericium erinaceus, with poor commercial properties and low economic benefits. In addition, although the number of primordia can be reduced by using customized small-mouth bottle caps for mushroom production, there are still more primordia than direct fruiting from plastic bags, which also increases the operating procedures and investment costs.
5. Grid cultivation mode
Actual production shows that the grid cultivation model is the most suitable for Hericium erinaceus to produce mushrooms. The environmental conditions are uniformly controlled and the operation is relatively simple. The placement density can also be increased or reduced according to the existing facilities and equipment.
